TARMAC LIMITED

STANCOMBE

Stancombe is a limestone quarry located in North Somerset. It is operated by Tarmac and primarily produces crushed limestone for construction, road building, and industrial use. Pleydell Smithyman, working with Quarryplan and Tarmac geologists produced the planning application plans for the southern extension of the site. We were also commissioned to complete the landscape and visual impact assessment and information to discharge the landscape and restoration conditions. The designed restoration aimed to create a landscape which assimilated with the local character of a settled limestone plateau, visually integrating the quarry with the internal and north facing limestone ridge and creating a mosaic of species rich habitats.
