HILLHOUSE QUARRY GROUP

HILLHOUSE AND HALLYARDS QUARRY

Planning permission was secured from South Ayrshire Council to consolidate previous planning permissions at Hillhouse and Hallyards Quarries allowing the quarries to be linked by a tunnel, closure of one of the quarry entrances and use of only one plant site area. The team worked on the application, compilation of the EIA and the liaison with the wider group of environmental consultants. Our specialist work included ecological assessments and assessments of the visual setting of the Smugglers Way and a nearby Scheduled Monument. Detailed 2D and 3D assessments were undertaken to plan the quarry development and the subsequent temporary stoppage, diversion and reopening of a public right of way. The integrated and in-depth process led by Pleydell Smithyman secured a successful planning application ensuring alignment with both environmental considerations and the client's short- and long-term objectives.
