HOPE HOUSE HOSPICE

Pleydell Smithyman were commissioned to provide design improvements to the Tranquil and Open Gardens at a local hospice that offers care and support to life-limited children, young people and their families.

We designed a vibrant, stimulating environment within the open garden to bring delight to very sick children and their families whether seen from the bedrooms or when sitting out or playing in. We creatively explored the use of seasonality, colour, and texture within in the planting and sculptural features, to create both private and public areas and accomodate footpaths wide enough to allow the sickest bed-bound clients to be wheeled out into the garden when the weather allowed.

The tranquil garden was designed as a reflective, private and safe space for grieving families to remember their loved ones.

Pleydell Smithyman provided the client with design concept, sketch designs & illustrations, detailed design proposals and cost estimates, followed by a tender package for construction works.
