C&YP'S PARTICIPATION ENGAGEMENT STRATEGY
Layout & Infographic Design
Client:
Neath Port Talbot Council
Year:
2025
We developed a vibrant, accessible report design for Neath Port Talbot Council’s Children & Young People’s Participation Engagement Strategy, creating a visual identity that balances the authority of a formal strategy document with a much more engaging, youth-focused character.
A strong blue and turquoise palette runs throughout the report, supported by flowing graphic elements that create continuity from the cover through to the internal layouts. Bold, layered typography is used for section openers and key messaging, giving the document energy and making longer sections easier to navigate. Full-page imagery, illustration and expressive graphics are introduced at key points to create visual breaks and give individual sections their own personality, while large quotation panels bring important messages about participation and young people’s voices to the forefront.
The internal layouts were designed around a flexible visual system capable of handling very different types of content. More detailed text pages use clear columns, structured headings and generous spacing to maintain readability, while icons, diagrams and infographic-style graphics simplify more complex information. This includes a bespoke visual framework showing the relationships between participation groups, alongside illustrated definitions, callouts and supporting graphic devices.
The result is a report that feels positive, inclusive and energetic without losing the clarity required of a strategic council document. The combination of bold typography, illustration, photography, infographics and structured editorial layouts helps make a content-heavy strategy feel approachable and visually relevant to the children and young people at the heart of it.
