Project: Telford Sports, Learning and Enterprise Village

Client: Borough of Telford & Wrekin / English Partnerships / Advantage West Midlands

Pleydell Smithyman were appointed to co-ordinate a partnership approach to regeneration opportunities for sports, leisure, education and commercial facilities and gateway development. The objectives of this study were to achieve:

  • A viable development framework which would be attractive to public, private and externally funding initiatives;
  • Employment, learning, sports and recreational opportunities within an existing deprived urban setting through regeneration and renewal in support of Olympic preparations;
  • A strategic design, that would offer a bold nodal gateway into Telford;
  • Links into the existing sports, leisure and recreational opportunities available in the wider context of the area, focusing the regeneration of communities on children and young people instilling civic pride across the Borough.

This project highlights our ability to undertake a strategic masterplanning exercise and to identify social and commercial development opportunities within the existing urban setting.

As part of this scheme we acted as Lead Consultant working in partnership with the Local Authority, English Partnerships and Advantage West Midlands.
