Client: Tarmac Limited
Pleydell Smithyman Limited was commissioned to undertake a variety of update ecological surveys with respect to a proposed extension to the existing sand and gravel quarry. The surveys were required to help discharge planning conditions to enable quarry activities to proceed.
These surveys included great crested newt presence/absence, reptile, white-clawed crayfish and breeding bird surveys as well as an update extended Phase 1 habitat survey. Method statements will be produced to minimise disturbance to an active badger sett located on the boundary of the site as well as to help implement appropriate bio-security measures regarding the invasive signal crayfish.
Further ecological input has also been provided with respect to the existing restoration strategy for the site.
