Two New Garden Centre Approvals - in Two Weeks.

The team at Pleydell Smithyman have secured planning permission for two major new build garden centres, in Yorkshire and Suffolk.

Tingley Garden Centre

On 3rd June, Leeds City Council voted in favour of granting planning approval for a new £14m garden centre at Tingley near Leeds.

Designed by Pleydell Smithyman, who also managed the planning application, this will be the second centre for leading Yorkshire retailers Tong Garden Centre. The new centre includes a garden centre, five catering facilities, a farm shop, extensive indoor outdoor and adventure play, in an attractive landscape setting.

In line with the Tong business model the new centre will focus on the whole family and appeal to all ages.

Perrywood Garden Centre - Sudbury

On 11th June, Babergh District Council granted planning approval for a new £10m garden centre for Perrywood, on a 34 acre site east of Sudbury, Suffolk.

Pleydell Smithyman prepared a concept for the new garden centre, in line with Perrywood's values, placing plants at the heart of the business and creating a garden centre, among the plants. The strategy was developed into a site wide masterplan which includes a new garden centre and restaurant, repurposing of the original garden centre for local businesses, as well as spaces for indoor and outdoor events. The planning process was handled by the Pleydell Smithyman team.

The new centre is similar in size to Perrywood's award winning flagship centre at Tiptree, Essex
